I have created this site primarily to keep track of and chart out my own journey into Energy Medicine.

How I came into Energy Medicine, Holistic Healing and Spirituality:

In the mid 1990′s, I came to know of a close family friend being a Reiki Master which is what initially piqued my interest in Energy Medicine.  My sister and her both read Tarot Cards and would see Heather at the Calico Cat Teahouse in Nanaimo to have their tea leaves read.  At some point, I started tagging along and it turned into an annual event after I moved to Vancouver on my way to the ferry terminal after the Winter Holidays.  Even though I purchased my first Tarot Deck in 2002, my personal journey into learning Tarot and doing readings for myself did not start until February of 2010 when I was recovering from major surgery.

On Good Friday the 13th, back in 2001, I was in a car accident.  For several months I complained about my hip and was told by doctors there was nothing wrong with it and to undergo massage therapy but told “no” when inquiring about a Chiropractor.  It was several months after that, that I underwent my first Reiki session.  Whenever I had my cards and/or tea leaves read as well as after this first Reiki session, I was asked/told about the “stinging bee” in my right hip.  The Reiki Master told me to go see a Chiropractor which unfortunately I did not do until 2005.  Why would I listen to a “Reiki Master” over my own family doctor, right?  What the Chiropractor showed me thru measurements on my xrays, was that my right hip was torqued forward an inch and a half on my right side.

After ending up on LTD in December of 2010, my interests in Energy Medicine, Holistic Healing and Spirituality grew significantly through 2011 while fighting with doctors who wanted to put me on pills for depression and anxiety.  I did end up taking some for a week over Christmas (which made me feel much worse) but stopped after a friend urged me to.  I saw several doctors thru 2011, some of which patted me on the back for advocating for myself to not take the pills when it was clear where the depression and anxiety was coming from.  I agonized and was back and forth for months before eventually quitting my job over going back to work post-LTD and taking a huge leap of faith into changing careers.

In May and October of 2011, I took the Levels 1 and 2 of Touch for Health.  Part of the Level 1 training involves postural balancing.  Knowing how buggered up my body was, I volunteered to be the guinea pig and had my body torn apart with how out of whack it was.  The instructor did a balancing, they went over the large list of what was out to see what had improved.  As I walked around the room, they were asking me what was up.  Prior to this postural balancing, I had to make a conscious effort to physically push my pelvis in a way to stand up straight.  I still to this day no longer have to physically push my pelvis in a way to stand up straight.  Needless to say, I am hooked on Touch for Health and Energy Medicine now!

I have taken a very broad approach to learning about Energy Medicine and Holistic Healing.  I am open to learning about anything and everything and have thus far only singled out Touch for Health as a healing modality I want to learn focus on.  I created a list of what all I have been reading or been interested in learning more about on my Interests page.

Philosophy on Rituals, Methodology and Rigidity:

Although I have done a ton of research, reading and spending of money, I have not done a lot of practicing with the Energy Healing itself – other then with some meditation.  I will often sit at my desk, candles lit, something in my oil diffuser while reading either my books or tarot cards or just sitting and holding my crystals and stones.  I suppose I should argue in my defense that, that is Energy Healing.

The only philosophy I have prescribed to thus far is that I listen to my body and intuition and do not necessarily follow any list of steps other then what feels right for me.  I think what took me so long to get into practicing this was reading that things had to be done a certain way and that stifled me enough into not doing anything.  I was very thankful for reading ________ to see her view on these rules and the ridiculousness of them.

My approach may be different then yours but that is not to say either of ours are wrong.  I am always open to challenging my own beliefs and ways of thinking and doing.  Feel free to challenge me!  I have always found being challenged by others is the best avenue for my own personal growth.

Now I am off to start typing up my notes!  Hopefully they are legible enough!

Added May 30, 2011:

Just wanting to add this link in here so I do not lose it.  A major part of the reason why I want to get into this as a profession.  I really must pick up this doctors books:

  1. A lot of people see Tarot as a pure divination technique. But Tarot is way more. Tarot teaches you more about yourself. It shows you exactly what your needs and desires are. Tarot shows your deeper motives. This way Tarot really helps to get a better life.
